which oil?

I have been currently running Mobil Clean 5000 10W-30 with a Motorcraft filter in my 03' 4.2L for 35,000 miles. I have had absolutly no problems, but i hear so many people say that the Motorcraft 5W-20 oil is the best way to go. Should I make the switch or am I fine with what I've got? Are there any benifits to useing the different weight, like better gas mileage?

5W20 is a fine oil. That is what I have chosen to run in my 2005.
But, the 2000 got conventional 10W30 for the full 170,000 miles I put on it before selling it.
I am a big fan of Havoline and Chevron. They (IMO) build some of the best conventional oils you can buy.
You should visit the Oil and Lube forum.
I hang out there a lot. There are some good discussions.
You can search there for my post from a while back showing mu used oil analysis for the oils mentioned. Or, I can save you the hassle: they were VERY GOOD. (5,000 mile drain intervals)

I love using the motorcraft oil because it is a synthetic blend at a conventional price. Ford does recommend using motorcraft 5-20 in most of their engines, but i can't but help to use the 5-30

but remember, no matter what oil you use, the most important thing is to change your oil regularly, i prefer every 3k miles as opposed to 5k

Down here in Louisiana I use Mobil 1 10w-30 synthetic oil. I like to use the heavier weight oil because of our extremely hot and humid summers. It may not be completely necessary but I'd rather be safe than sorry and run a heavier oil. I have almost 100,000 on my 2000 and no problems yet. She still runs like a champ.
