I had a 57 F-250 with a 352 from the factory. That was the most useless under powered engine on the planet. I hauled a 10' slide in camper to Colorado and due to the lack of power I almost had to homestead a hole I got into out there. As soon as I got home I installed a 429 out of a police car that had been wrecked along with the C6 tranny. That was the smartest thing I ever did and it was almost a bolt in conversion. I had to cut down the drive shaft and move the rear cross member and that was it! The next year I went back to Colorado and back to that same hole and it was NO PROBLEM. Tons of power! I would rather have any engine than a 352. Totally useless!
I don't think you had a '57 truck with a factory 352 since it was introduced in '66
the 332 truck engine from 1955 was not an FE it was a Y-block based on lincoln 317 and only came in MD trucks
