I have two dilemmas, first, for the third time now, the radio display will blink and/or go out,( the radio is still functional, just the display disappears), and then the drivers window will s l o w l y go down. I can lower and raise the window and it will still try to slowly go down. The first time I thought it was the window switch and replaced that.........the second time, slamming the glove box door brought the display back on and all was well, the third time after about 10 minutes it came back on by itself and all was well again. Ghosts or ????????? causing this?
Second...( this may need to beposted on a different forum, just let me know),
this truck has been wrecked at some time in the past and after getting it out of the body shop to check frame and replace I beams it still is "un-alignable" due to the tires leaning in over 4 degrees at the top(camber). At this point I am thinking that somebody put the wrong springs in the front, is there a difference between the springs for a diesel and gas truck, and how can I know if I have the right springs in there. ( I believe that a little longer spring would solve the problem).
sounds like loose electrical connections to me. if its' been in an accident then anything is possible.
if i'm not mistaken the springs on a super duty are different between a gasser and a diesel due to the weight difference between the 2 engines. of course i'm still a newbie myself, i'm sure one of our resident guru's will chime in with the correct answer shortly.
The display on the radio is a Ford thing. I have replaced several for the exact same reason. You can send it in and have it fixed, but you can find a used factory radio much cheaper, or go to an aftermarket radio. It is not grimmlins, just the nature of the beast.
I don't know much about the 2wd front end, so I can't help you there, but a good front end shop should be able to straighten out the front to get alignment. On the older ones, they would actually bend the wishbones a little.
there is a ride height specification, but I forgot where that is. It will tell you the how tall it ought to be sitting at the curb. stockers sit noticeably front end low so you cant measure the aft. I am thinking with 265 tires it is something like 26 inches from the wheel center to the top of the wheel well arch.

Westpsd, did you see the same symptom of the driver window creeping down along with the display disappearance ???
I've seen the window thing on a few powerstrokes. Every time it was the driver's side window. Generally the warmer it is the worse it is (remember heat lowers the conductivity of metals--more resistance inside a fried motor = slow window)
It almost has to be some kinda short or something, I have tried a new window motor and that didn't solve it either. It is very intermittent, but if it happens to be raining it would be VERY annoying, not being able to keep the window up. I'm just not sure where to begin to look.
wHEN I BOUGHT MY TRUCK USED FROM THE STEALERSHIP THE RADIO DISPLAY WAS THE SAME AS YOU ARE EXPLAINING. i HAD THEM FIX IT BEFORE THE SIGNING OF THE TRUCK . aLL THEY DID WAS TAKE IT TO AN EXPERIENCED SHOP WHO DEALS WITH RADIO'S AND ELECTRONICS. pROBABLY GOT IT FIXED FOR NOTHING. If you want to try and check it out youreself1. Pull the radio out of the dash 2. there are two screws on each side of the radio that hold the face plate on. Unscrew them, the faceplate will come right off 3. There will be a silver band of wires that power the faceplate, its about two inches long. 4. Make sure it is plugged in completely on the faceplate side and on the head unit side(just plastic connectors. 5. reassemble, go out on a muddy trail and see if happens again.
