so, lately I have had to drive my wife's 93 aero 3.0 as my toyota was vandalized. The van has been drastically losing power and blowing smoke (not sure if white or blue) at higher rpms - like when I want to pass someone and it shifts down. the coolant is mysteriously dissapearing slowly and the oil is too, Right from when we bought it 2 yrs ago though. It also has had problems in the past and present intermittantly of it stalling the engine when put into gear (auto trans) when cold outside - like just above zero degrees C, unless it is warmed up for 15minutes. The plug wires and cap/rotor were replaced last year and I opened up the air intake by modifying the air box so the air filter is open to the atmosphere... it actually increased my mileage by 1-2 mpg. The problem with the stalling was happening before I mod'd the air box. Any ideas? Or should I just push it over a cliff?

My wife and son were in a major car accident at the beginning of the month (they're both doing well now). It was in a new ford fusion - totalled. so, I have had to deal with the van lately... just drive it after a lengthy warm up.
I went to go to work on tuesday and the aero would turn over but not start. After work I dived into the ignition and sure enough all the contacts were corroded - it was just replaced last year. It has been running well up until today when it wouldn't start again (but this time it was pretty cold outside and the van not plugged in over night. plugged it in and charged the battery for a couple hours and it fired right up. Later tonite the check engine light came on (it came on at idle at a stop light) and quickly shut off about thirty seconds later while driving. What is going on? I have searched on how to pull the codes but can't find anything.... I'm stumped and would like to know how to do it.
Any help would be appreciated,

is the STI connector a single wire or dual wire? i found the eec test but the sti is a little elusive. The eec test was attached to a bracket on the firewall and a dual wire single connector was attached to the same bracket. Is this it?
