Flash

I had my 05 F-250 flashed today and now when I turn the key off it sounds like the injectors are running for about a min after I shut it off. Could the new flash cause this? The Tech said it addressed fuel.

It's possible, but how do you know your injectors are running? Is it a diesel, do you know the TSB for the reflash?

I do not know for sure it is the injectors. after I shut the engine off I hear somthing still running under the hood. Tomorrow I will find out the flash number. I talked to a friend who had the same flash done and he says his does the same thing. Maybe it is flash related maybe not but it happened after the flash the only other thing I did was have the oil and fuel filters changed. Thanks for your help

I hear my turbocharger winding down after shutting down the truck. Dunno if that's what you're hearing.

The TSB # is 06-22-3 and the letter from Ford states:

I just got my 04 F250 back yestarday for a head gasket replacement (I am in good company on that part, I know). When I drove it home and turned off the key I heard that noise. I took it back today to the dealer and talked to the tech - he told me it was indeed due to a reflash they did as part of the warranty service, and the noise was the injectors, and that they are cycled after the ignition is turned off. He thought it was to help knock of any deposits.

I am not happy with the noise - but I guess I'll learn to live with it. However, I would love to have some technical explanation of why they really do this. And I am worried about power loss after the reflash from all the threads I've read. I'll be towing the week of Thanksgiving - I'll know then. Around town seems fine so far.

See this thread that was posted over in the 6.0 forum. A couple of Ford techs have explained it very well...

Thanks for the tip - that thread does give a good explanation. To my knowledge I did not have the injector sticking problem, but I think I followed the failure mode description and it makes sense - my own summary/understanding from that is: The oil pressure on these hydraulically activated injectors keeps pressure on the injector when the car is turned off, and in this static load condition, the injectors tend to take a "set" and stick when you fire back up. The cycling that they have implemented via this firmware upgarde bleeds off the oil pressure from the injectors to eliminate the problem.

That thread had a reference to a TSB -
" Old TSB 06-2-13 New TSB 06-22-3"

I could not find 06-22-3 in the TSB on this site. Does anyone know another link for the TSB's? I did take a look at the ford corporate site once, to look for TSB's, but I struck out - maybe I didn't look hard enough.
