Is corrosion a problem for you also?

I wondering how many others are experiencing corrosion issues I have with my 99. This year I have replaced the following components all of which corroded to the failure point:
 • Positive battery terminal
 • Starter battery cable terminal
 • <ST1</ST1Battery terminal connections (3) at the starter relay
 • Intermediate parking brake cable (in the middle of the cable)
 • Fuel tank filler neck (rusted through)
 • Front to rear brake line
<O</OWhile replacing the filler neck today, I took a close look at my center bearing bracket and its attachment to its mounting bracket that in turns mounts to the cross member - yikes! I'm concerned that both of these are destined to fail soon as well.

Are any of you experiencing these problems with 99 vintage SDs? Granted, I live in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<ST1Massachusetts</ST1 </st1:State>and winter time salt is a fact of life but this seems a bit excessive compared to my other Ford trucks.

I raised in Northern Michigan and know how you feel, road salt is a killer. Im thinking the brake lines, parking lines are just road salt eating through them. The battery terminals could be from your battery leaking acid and the acid traveling down to the starter. Do you notice alot of battery acid leaking from battery at the terminals?

I didn't see much in the way of leaking acid from the battery, but I do understand that corrosion happens at battery terminals especially the positive terminal more so than other places. I am more puzzled by the corrosion at the starter relay which is a distance from the battery and protected from salt spray located above the inner fender/wheelwell. The starter relay has copper terminal studs while the terminations on the wire are (were) plated or tinned? Maybe there is electroysis of some sort happening that consumed the terminal metal and caused the failure?

There may be a small amount of salt getting under the hood, just enough getting the wires to cause corrosion.

Its called the rust belt, you have to wash the underside as much if not more than the top side.

You had better address your oil pan. Those can rust through from the outside. Mine is rust free but I live in lower elevation California and not near the ocean.
