I've got a 2004 reg cab Ranger. Flareside bed, 2wd, 2.3l I4, 5spd. I want to go faster. It's already a farily quick truck for only 142hp, but not quick enough. It can hang with my buddy's full size ext cab V6 chevy, and another's full size reg cab v6 chevy w/ 20's. But I want to be able to beat them. It's a "my truck's faster than your truck" ordeal. I've got a K&N air fliter and I keep Royal Purple oil in the motor, but that's all I've done to it. I would like to increase my power output, as well as procure a tuning device to raise my rev limiter and my top speed limiter (if you didn't know, these things top out at around 93mph....my buds' chevys top out at 95....I don't think this is fair....)
If anyone can help me out with some go fast goodies for this little hellion, please fill me in. Tuners, Exhaust (header and aft-cat) cold air kits, throttle bodies, hell, even a turbo would be great.
You can get a bama programer, thier the best for the ranger, you can get them at www.jusnesmodified.com. For other go fast parts for the 2.3 duratec, check out www.cosworth.com, they can hook you up with cams, pistons, rods, heads, all the things that will really make a diiference. Check out that bama programer, it's the bomb, and it will remove the rev and speed limiter and add hp and torque, the programs are designed by a ford guy for rangers. I trust that your doing your racing at the track.
These guys are right track. Our BamaChips tuners make KILLER gains on the duratec engine. After that I would look into intakes or exhaust. The biggest power gain will come from that tuner though.
Heres the link to the tuners on our site. Browse around, we have a ton of go fast goodies and other parts for your truck!
Ifmny cellphone ever comes, i'll finish working with doug to make a turbo and tuner combo, which will kill the competition. if your interested give me a holler.I'm looking for support, i already got 5 people on my list, and 2 of them have the 4 cyl.
probably my 65 galaxie. depends how much work i put into the engine, it may not end up going in that rusty turd..... but, i can always find a use for a 460
Whatya need a turbo on a 460 for, if 600hp isn't enough then just stroke it with alum heads and make 900hp NA. Then stuff it into a ranger and have some fun.
N20 CHEAP will add as much power as you dare to blow up your little 4cly. but may not be leagal in your area but hey street racing isnt anyway...so go to the track!!! o and if your keepin up with them you probably would need only a 25 shot good luck
NOS is all right, but it's only there when the bottle if full, a 250 hp all motor build from cosworth is there all the time, and so is a turbo if you want 400 hp out of your duratec I-4. Cosworth + turbo = killer !!!!!!!!!!!
I seem to remember reading a post that said you could add a turbo to your Ranger 2.3 from a doner Mercury Murkur 2.3 or 88 T-bird 2.3. Should have little difficulty bolting it up. At least that's what I read. Maybe some of you experts know better. I can repair but I can't mod. I test-drove the turbo T-bird. It was amazing!
