I say have fun with it, but only if you can afford to fix it or be without it when it breaks.
I've only had 2 catastrophic failures in vehicles. I felt crappy about it for a few minutes and then just laughed like crazy. One was my Mustang...400 hp with a stock T5...I knew it was a matter of time. The other was blowing a t-case on an 85 Suburban while pulling a trailer at 70 mph down a rural highway. That one was just plain funny to me, especially when the guy pulled up and asked me if that was my driveshaft about a 1/4 mile back.
haha..thats funny...i gues all you can do is laugh...i tryed to power brake it the other night..just to see what it was like..you know because im immature...any who i quit because i didnt want to hurt my beloved truck...what can it do as far as wear..or if it breaks will it break at the time of power braking...will it eventually just wear something and eventually break or if its going to break will it break at the time
ok this went completley south....i was just wondering what it could harm and it got into something totally not about trucks...maturity...does any one want to talk about there feeling because it seems ilke some of you guys are menstrating and are really emotional about the topic...do i need to call dr phil so he can sort this out for us!!!
Don't blame me they started it! I put on "On a side note:".
Besides, what fun would the forum be if we didn't get sidetracked from time-to-time?!!
man this is great...we are all like one big disfuncional family that argues about everything because we are all so hard headed...at least at the end of the day we can all say we own a superduty...

WOW! You guys actually own yours? I got four and a half more years until I own mine! Gotta love them banks and credit card companies!! Why pay now when you can't afford to?

Here's a pic of one of the two burnouts I've done in my truck. Both have been before a set of new tires was installed.
And the Suburban...I still laugh when I think about that. I think I might feel differently if this happened to the Super Duty. It was a good bit of damage. Dented or cracked the following: Frame, floorboard, exhaust, t-case, front driveshaft, starter, transmission bellhousing, fuel lines, brake lines, trans gauge sender and some wiring.
Just so you'll know, I only do this at the drag strip to heat them up before a run ...
Just so you know, unless you're on drag slicks, a burnout at the track will do nothing for you, and may even produce negative results.
I think the drawbacks to doing a brake stand are increased transmission clutch pack wear, transmission fluid breakdown, torque converter wear, brake pad wear, and a possible catastrophic u-joint failure. But, it's your truck...
