i recently put on 33" cooper stt tires with some rims and this added size turned the pickup into a pig. it simply is gutless and cant hardly charge a grade anymore unloaded. it downshifts from OD then barly can hold the rpms up, like its a workout to get them near 3k.... and it wants to downshift again and somtimes it does.. it cant stay in OD on the flats so i believe i need to regear it with some 4.56 gears.....the door sticker says there the 3.55 gears. so what do you guys think should i go with this gear size or is there somthing else...will it bring it back to life or not. i cant image towing any thing with it during this state.what kind of rpm would i be running at 65 with these gears. im looking for any help thanks alot in advance.
97 f150 5.4l 4x4 with the edge programmer, cat back exhaust, k&n intake,throttle body spacer and i have the efans and underdrive pullys in the the shop just to lazy.
I have a 4.6 and had 3.55's and it was not to bad with 33's but once i steped up to 35's... It was so bad... Then i got 4.56's....
4.56's with 33's might be to much but i would do it because if you ever go up you
will be happy... and once you regear you will be like wow... thats how i was.
ONE BAD THING THO.... once you get 4.56's your truck will only do maybe 85-87 mph tops because of the speed limiter... I dont know about some people but when im on
the highway and thares no one around i wana do like 90-100... but my truck tops out
at 91 with 35's... and i got the truespeed from superlift to fix my speedo...

But i just looked you have a tunner... NVM you sould be good lol....
how much over would it be.....like is it going to be reving too much on the highway. i would like it a little better then stock but not sacrafising toooooo much gas ect ect....and the programmer wont fix my speedo on the 97.. so it says im going 50 when really im doing 60...and it practically tops out at 55 with OD off and it wants to drop another gear just to pull itself without a trailer....
I hate the key lift.... want a real lift really bad lol

I droped my truck off at a 4x4 shop and they charged me 750 for a limited slip and 4.56 installed... My front is still not geared but im cutting my cv joints so i can take
my front dif out and regear it myself.
Gears off of ebay are cheap... 4wheelparts..... checks your shops tho.
4.56 with 33's sould be great... but you have a 5.4 i have a 4.6... its hard for me to say.
now all i need to know is what size is my axles ......8.8,9.75 ect....im not sure and i cant find it so could someone at least tell me that. are the front and rear the same and do the front gears need to be reverse cut or anything.
