I have a Lightning that occasionally gives me some problems while cruising at around 70-80. It will be in OD and then for no reason, downshift. Also, if I am on it hard in 3rd gear, sometimes it will just act like it slipped into neutral. If I let off the gas and jump back into it, it usually will go without a problem. I also notice that sometimes while cruising, that the RPMs will go up and down around 500 RPMs with a steady pedal. This seems to happen just before it wants to downshift on it's own...then it will jump back to OD....
I think they are the same. I've never heard of a shifter position sensor.
...ok, I was wrong on the name. It's the MLPS--manual lever position sensor.
I did that and it didn't make much difference. Some have changed it and had their problems go away, including the jumpy speedo.
The TRS (also called MLPS) isn't at all related to the speedo. Changing it couldn't help the speedo in any way.
If the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) was bad that would cause shifting problems and a jumpy speedo.
