Question How many do you suppose?

Did Ford not build a "gas" Super Duty???????.....I know they did because I had a V-10 before my first Diesel. Reason I ask is just got back from a 200 mile round trip on the Interstate and EVERY Super Duty I seen had the distinctive "Diesel PowerStroke" badge on the door.

Anyone know what the ratio is of Diesels to gas in the Super Duty model is? I'm betting it's 8 out of every 10. Makes me feel GOOD to be one of the "good guys"!

back in 1999 when we custom ordered our 2000 F-350 supercab dually v-10, we had to order it because there were no v-10's on the lot. because of a bad experience with our 95 powerstroke, the 2002 and 2000 trucks were both v-10s, dad did not want to go back to a diesel. i convinced him in 2004 to get a 6.0, and ford ended up buying it back, now we have a 06 and an 07. the dealer said the ratio of the diesel to gas trucks was 9:1 (back in 2000) and i think that has lessened to about 6 or 7 diesels to one gas engine in the current trucks.

Depends. They have the Super Duty with the 5.4l, 6.8l, and 7.3l. At one of the local Ford places they only sell the gas trucks. Seems a lot of people still believe the 5.4l wont burn as much fuel as the v10 or stroker, lol. Now, the other local stealer only carries diesels. If anyone wants a gasser from them, they would have to have it ordered. I bet the ratios vary greatly depending on there you are at.

I don't have any idea what the ratio is now, but back in 01 when I bought my truck only about 13-15% off all Superduty/Excursion sold were gas powered....In the Louisville plant. No idea what the Mexican producion numbers were.

Only about 10% rolled out of Louisville with manual trannys.

My work truck is a 5.4 super duty I think the local dealer only sells the gas models but I think that is because they dont have a diesel mechanic and I have always heard that if a dealer does not have anyone that can service a diesel they can not sell them. Dont know if that is true but I have never even seen a used one on their lot.

could you imagine how offensive this would be to the sparkplugger guys over in the Superduty section?

I hear you. About every SD I see is a diesel. It seems that the majority of gas powered SDs I see are either fleet or company trucks - probably because they're cheaper to buy initially. When I worked at Lowe's, our rental truck was a gas SD, and all of the city owned work trucks around here are gassers. Most evey privately owned SD I see on the roads is a diesel.

I know what you mean. Those gassers have become very reliable these days but they just don't make the torque. My wife drives a F150 Crew cab. I bet they probably have less trouble than we do with our diesels but cannot haul the groceries when the time comes not to mention the dismal mileage and performance, especially under a load.

I've seen about half and half where I am (Dallas/Ft Worth). Most of the diesels are work trucks or jacked-to-the-max toys. Mine's just a daily driver but I wouldn't give up the torque for a gas engine.

I hardly ever see gasser F-250s here (just north of Houston). It's a rarity. Lots of PSDs and Cummins all over the place though.
