Hope you guys can give me some insight here.I have a 73 f-250 4x4 standard, the body is shot.I have the opportunity to get my hands on a 75 2x4 that is an automatic.I want to put the 75 2 wheeldrive body on my 73 4x4 chassy. What problems am i going to run into? Will i have a problem hooking up the clutch? Can i switch the steering column?anything else that is going to give me a headache? Also. The 75 has a 460,73 has a 390,will i be able to swap motors? Will the 460 bolt up to the tranny that the 390 is hooked up to.Hope you all can help
dont know about the body, im sure it would though. Now on the engine/tranny, no the 460 wont work on the 390 tranny, it would need a big block tranny, the 390 is a FE tranny.
the clutch linkage and column will not be a problem. the column will be ok as well. the only things that will need modified are the bed bolt holes, and the 2 bolt holes behind the seat for the cab mounts. use the tranny plate from your old cab, and the clutch pedal and linkage will just unbolt to put in the new cab. your in cab tank will need to be either relocated, or you will need to drill a hole for that also. i would just use the tranny that the 460 is attached to if you want to go with that. you will also need the frame horns from the 460 as well.
