I was driving on the freeway yesterday going 70 and I noticed the speedometer "ticking like a clock" kind of going down to 60 and then back to 70. It was very sporadic though and would do it for 10-15 seconds and then not do it for 5 minutes? Is this a sensor possibly or has anyone had this issue before? The truck was running fine.
Thanks
Anyone else notice the VSS and CPS are almost the same thing? Would'nt that suck if someone were to find out that they are interchangeable? I would show up at the Ford service desk with a whole bunch of questions.
sounds like vss sensor. you can try cleaning it or get a new one. I got one for $15.
Yep that's what it sounds like to me. At least that's what mine was doing then the spedo quit all together. I took mine out and wiped it off but ended up getting a new one.
Mine was quiting and starting and acting strange.. Got a napa P/N 530780, ABS sensor according to Napa, $10.49 and it fixed the problem... (top of the rear-end)
I just replaced that when I bought the truck in April? My ABS light was on all the time and that fixed it, but it could already be bad again? Is this part made in America or overseas!!
I have problems with my speedometer too, it seems to be on first start up and it wont move, shut truck down and restart and it seems to work fine. It only does it once or twice a month so I was not so worried. But do you think that this could be a vss sensor also? Oh is the VSS located on top of the rear end? I thought that that sensor was for the rear abs.
The sensor on the rear diff. is the rear ABS sensor. it provides input to several different systems ie: speedometer, ABS, and when bad makes OD light flash.
