I just aquired an engine that is a y block ,but it is one of the heavy duty versions for the big job type of truck , it is complete spare one valve cover , and it needs a new harmonic balancer.Anyway, the casting on the side of the block is C3TE , I'm not sure if it is a 302 or a 332, any answers are appreciated.
I went and checked the Y-BLock Web Site at http://www.ford-y-block.com/ but they do not show the casting number you mentioned even so they talk about truck engines there, too. Maybe you want to check again and if this is the number and not any of those listed in the engine identification section of that Web Site then you could ask them. You'll find an e-mail address as well as phone number there.
In Ford part number break down, C3TE would indicate:
C3 = 1963 m.y.
T= Truck Division
E= Engine release acitivity
One of my reference books shows that in 1963, there was 302 HD and
332 HD available.
Post a picture and maybe someone can ID it. Should beable to
tell from the intake casting part number, but I loaned my book out
and it has not come back.
