Will they fit?

Does anyone out there happen to know offhand if headers from a 302 from a mustang, would fit on my 89 302 in my truck? I kind of just assume they would bolt up, but im really not 100 percent positive. The headers are off of a 302 ho, and are supposed to be from a fuel injected one, I dont know the exact year they came off of though.

Yes the stock HO tubular headers are an exact replacement for the manifolds. I don't think you'll see any power improvements, but they will cure a vehicle that has a tendancy to crack the cast manifolds.

Cool thanks. I wasnt too woried about power improvements of it either, just have a chance to get a set for cheap, and avoid the whole cracked manifolds, just like you mentioned.

So they're the stock headers? Not sure if they'll fit the chassis though...

nooooo...dont do it....

do not try to put mustang headers in your truck.......if you havent sarted yet, dont.....im almost done with my swap...(92'302)..and they hit everywhere...on the tranny mount..on the frame in about four different places.....i had to bang in near the collector and cut the flanges in between each pipe so they would just be able to be tweaked in...with the aid of woodblocks and a crowbar..and i even had to cut off an exhaust flange to clear the ranny mount...and trim the flanges to fit around the plug wires......not exactly an easy nor proffessional fit.

and FINALY, they dont line up with the openeings in the stock exhaust piping.(the headers are longer...).so youll have to take it to an exhaust shop to get tube bent to fit.....

its far cheaper in the long run to buy a pair of shorty headers FOR an f150.....

cheers
Paul

I knew it. I had a feeling they wouldn't fit. Good post, you get a rep point for that.

Vohaul... You Can't be talking about the factory mustang HO shorties? Tranny mount... these thing go nowhere near it!! Do you mean engine/trans mating point maybe? And I don't see needing to trim the flanges around the plug boots... both motors use the exact same heads. I don't know...last time I had the HO headers in my hands they looked real close to the manifolds in dimensions. Maybe the frame on some trucks is different and causes more problems. I know I had to do a little frame trim to get my longtubes in. Nothing major.. there was a small protrusion on the frame right where one of the tubes wanted to be. 60 seconds with the grinder and problem solved. Sheldon.. I not trying to mislead you...maybe take a closer look if you can get these in hand. That said.. a proper set of truck shorties should work better and fit without issue.

well, im not sure these were HO headers, all i know is the guy i got them from said they were off a mustang....and one of he header flanges (between the front 2 pipes on the passenger side was cut..he said to allow for a bar or something ...and they were a complete PITA to install....

I wouldnt take any chances and just go for the F150 headers.......
cheers
