I have a 1963 F100 w/ a 302 from a 71 Torino. The stock exhaust headers fit perfectly but I want to upgrade. Does anyone know what ones will fit? The suspension in my truck is stock and i have an automatic tranny.
You might could use mustang shorties. i have factory 79-93 mustang headers on my 65. But it wont hook up to the factory exhaust. But mine has no exhaust at this time so i can do what ever.
yeah mine has the stock headers from the torino and it fits fine, and i know full length headers wont work because of the support holding the engine. ill look into the shorties for mustangs
I'm doing the same swap in a '61 with a solid axle and I've been looking at header applications. I'm wanting to use full length headers, but can't find any applications either.
It's easier to find a set of SBChev headers for these old trucks than a set of Ford ones.
Add to what Bill said, The engine had to be offered from the factory in that model truck for there to be an application to use.
When you swap in an engine from a different series that has a different engine bay pattern you will have to go trial & error or recommendation from a friend that has made it work. IMHO
If he has room going straight down in the middle below the heads they will fit, if not mustang shorties are the way to go, i have had both on this truck. had to bend the heat shield on the motor mount on the drivers side for the block huggers though.
I found some headers that are going to work, i just haven't installed them yet. Their headman headers from the 80s that were originally for a bronco but they have been sitting in a neighbor's garage since they were purchased, they were never installed so they are in perfect shape.
Not sure yet what you can do about headers, as I can't get a good answer from anybody(and mine's a '61 anyway, so it's probably different), but Transdapt makes motor mounts and a crossmember that both say they'll fit a '64.
Part number for the m/mounts is 4145 and for the crossmember it's 4136.
The cheapest I was able to find these was from Jeg's.
