Does anyone know where I can find mount towers for my truck. It has a 300 in it right now and I am putting a 302 in it. Im sure the mount towers are different in the v8 and am having trouble finding them I found some for a 300 to 302 swap but they were for a 80 model truck. Also the engine IKm putting in it is a 1969 engine. Thanks for the help.
Check something out, I was looking into swapping out my 400, and was told the towers are the same between the v-8 mounts and the 300, just move it forward. Check for the bolt holes.
I just went out and looked at my mounts and they go from the top of the frame and then rest on the crossmember and dont look like they can go any further on the cross member. Hopefully I dont have to rig something up. I looked at the sponsers but didnt really know what need. Im putting the 302 in where my 300 was.
The mounts I have that had a 302 or 351W sit on top of the cross fully, while bolting up to the top of the frame rail. I'll have to see if I can't get some pics for you. Worse comes to worse, I can take them off and send them to you...
I found these mount towers but not sure if they will work on my truck because they say for 1980-96 ford truck? Or could I make them work? then Ill need to find motor mounts. http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...51w__pair_.htm
Yes, I was told the mounts need to be moved forward, the six mounts are further back.
The mounts from the 80's trucks are wrong, they bolt to the back of the cross. The other mount you showed is for street rods, frame rail to frame rail, I think you would run into trouble getting it done. I'll try to get some pics if I can, dark out there now...
try this one out... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...t=motor+mounts

79 and earlier 4x4's had 3 different towers. 300/FE's(different bolt holes), 302/351W/351M/400's, and 429/460's(3 piece w/mount) 80 and newer are a whole different ballgame. Also 79 and earlier 4x4's towers are different than 2wd towers, due to crossmember location. So if your truck is 2wd, look for a 70's 2wd truck with a windsor or 335 series engine. Ditto, if your truck is 4x4, then look for a 4x4.
Ok so Ill go out and find some towers that have a 302 351 or 400 in them. Can I only use from 73-79 towers?I would rather buy them new but cant get any luck.
The stampings will hold out fine, new isn't necessary, and very likely will be hard to find. You may be able to go back to 67, not entirely sure on that.
Ok I jsut dont want to get the engine in there and them not work. Im going to go out and take a photo sometime to see if there the same that your refererring to. I did see that there are more holes but right now the mounts are all the way toward the front so They need to be moved back one hole correct?
Maybe that's the way they need to go, I very well could be wrong about which way to move them. I can look on the frame I have here. I'll have to get back to you on that...
OK, Here's what I found... Coded the 77 frame, and it had a 300 in it in the past, probably what was last in it, the mounts are all the way forward. The 71 right next to it had an FE, the mounts look identical, but bolted into the back holes... same on another 71 that still had the FE in it. Looks like you need to move them back...
