after replacing the brakelight switch i no longer have brakelights. when the plunger on the old switch wasnt stuck, the brakelights did work but now nothing. the hazard flashers come on in the front only and all the signals work too. there is power going to the switch and the switch does work. any ideas? its a 72-f100 2wd
yea i tried that, the problem isnt in the switch b/c i used a tester and i get power through the switch when i press it, the turn signals work so i know the bulbs are good. another thing is that when i press the brake pedal with the hazard flasher on, it stops flashing and just stays lit up but the rear still doesnt work, only the front flashes/lights up
I'd venture to say then that your problem is under the dash area. If the turn signals are light there is power going down the wire from the can to the rear.
I think the hazzards stop flashing when the brakes are applied. Without being there and tinkering with it, I don't know what to suggest next.
The hazards use a differant flasher than the blinkers..check it I would check out Also The turn signal switch before the dash..the brake lights work through it not the dash..good luck bill c
k got it all sorted out the red/black stripe wire was a little charred inside the signal switch, soldered it all back together and im back in business, now at least if i get rearended its not my fault
