The brake-lights on my 65 F250 went out. The fuse is fine, power is coming to and from the brake-light switch. Power is coming to the tail- lights and turn signals, but no power to the brake lights. I had the instrument panel off of the dash before they went out. Is there any connections around the dash that I may have loosened? I do not have a wiring schematic, so all I see is a bunch of taped up wires. Any help would be appreciated.
Tom you have a ground problem. You have only two wires to the light so brake and turn use the same one. If a new bulb wont do the trick, try a battry post brush into the socket, unplug the wire connector a few in. back and clean it. Don't have a good answer for you, but know what the problem is, you will just have to find it.
Tom,
Something else you might check is the brake light switch. I have a 65 F100 and when I first got it I had to lean on the brakes to get the lights to come on. Changed the switch and now I just have to barely move the peddle to get them lit. Hope this helps
The tailight housing itself should have a good ground at where it screws to the bed. I had to clean this up, as well as repair some splices. Later, after bleeding the brakes and master cyl, I found the brake lights didn't work. Got a new switch for $ 3.99 and everything works fine again. Good Luck!
I have to realy push on my brakes to get the lights to work also. Were is the brake light switch?? I have been following wires trying to find it but with no luck. And where do you get new ones
The switch should be right above the outlet on the master cylinder:

Andrew has posted the correct picture for this series. The same set-up was used through the '66 model year. In 1967, Ford changed to the dual reservoir master cyl. at which time the brake light switch was mounted on the pivot bolt at the pedal.

As John said sounds like a ground problem .Make sure your ground strap is not broke from bed to frame. Grounds cause many of hours of work and headaches.
Trouble
According to my trusty Mac's catalog, the brake light switch is the same for the 48-66 models. '67 uses a different part from the 68-72 models, however..
