My last truck, a '96 F-250 with the 5.8L went 10 years before the battery croaked! I couldn't beleive it. I replaced it with a cheap one from an Auto Parts store because I was trying to sell it at the time anyway. I now have a 2006 F-250 PSD. I've already replaced both batteries with Optima Yellow tops. I've had Optima's in other cars and there's one in my wife's Taurus that's 9 years old and still kickin'. They are a bit expensive, but if you're going to keep the truck for the long run, I think they're worth it.

You need at least the same CCA as the stock battery. If you have a lot of accessories drawing power, it might be wise to steop up a notch or two in the CCA's.
I would definitely go with the Optima yellow top. I had one in my '00 and one in my '02 SD's. I run multiple two way radios and emergency lighting. By far the Optima is the best way to go if you are going to run any form of "power hungry" accessory.
Given the yellow top is about $220 (900 CCA 4 155 min w/ 24 mth full replacement) vs $97 (875 CCA 4 145min w/ 36 mth full replacement) for a top of the line diehard you might consider how long you plan on keeping the truck and the added cost for the yellow top.

I've got the Diehard Gold SUV batteries, I think when it was all said and done they were about $90 each. No issues, and they crank good in 8 degree winter weather.

As I said in my first post:

Go to any auto repair shop that sells Interstate batteries, and get an MTP-65. They may have to special order it for you, as it's not a common battery. It's one step up from the standard MT-65, and if I'm correct, the cold cranking amp spec is 800 or 875. The OEM battery in your truck is rated at either 650 or 750. You should be able to buy it for under $100. I own an auto repair shop in NY, and Interstate is all that I sell. In the 33 years that I've been selling them, maybe I've had 5 duds.
My point being unless you are a die hard off roader all you need is the die hard or Interstate batteries. They are warrenteed longer and provide all the power you need in this application.
I saw a comparison a few months back. They tested most major brands and placed Autozone on top. I've used Diehard for years, but I may try one next time I'm ready.
Batteries from Sears (diehards) are good....OPTIMA is excellent....but ONE battery that most over look is TROJAN. They are excellent batteries.....try one..YOU WILL LIKE IT. THEY MAKE THE BEST CAMPER BATTERIES IN THE WORLD.
