Im going to buy a new optima battery but im wondering if it will fit where a normal battery would?what i mean is i hear they are not the same size as a regular battery and the battery hold down will not fit it?I was going to buy a red top one thats 800 cold cracnking amps and 1000 hot .is this a good one to buy or do you guys run the yellow top ones at all?just wanna make sure i get a good one there not cheap there from $169 to like $220 bucks.
I have the red one the model number on mine is 34/78 never had any problems with it at all.The yellow one has a little more for the reserve 120 and mines 110 i paid about 170 for mine.its comes with a new hold down kit too.peace out!
I get the Red Tops and put them in all my trucks, never a fitment problem. Put them in my cars too. What I do is for my offroad trucks anyways, is get long grade 5 threaded rod, drill holes in the battery tray, washer both sides and make custom length rods. Then I use 1/8 angle on top to hold the battery down. I wrap it in electrical tape to avoid shorts, plus, I keep the + covered while working on the battery. I cut and flatten rubber hose under the angle to cushion the battery and put the battery on a battery matt. Works great.
I use marine (wingnut for connecting cables) terminals too.
Just as an FYI. If you run anything like a winch, snowplow, or big amp stereo system with a red top it voids your warranty. Found this out directly from Optima when I got my last battery for the SD. Don't know how they would know but this is what they told me and it is on their website.
Another battery consideration would be the Odyssey batteries. I actually like them better than the Optimas but I couldn't find one available at the time I needed to replace mine.
LOL!!! Within 40 minutes you went from the Optima to the Odyssey as the best batteries. Too funny. But seriously I do like the Odysseys better and I am glad that I could share.
man oh man i went to pep boys and bought a red top optima now im hearing about Odyssey.Im not sure what those run price wise but i wish i know about them before i got this one.I wonder if pep boys will take it back i didnt even put it in my truck yet.
