Tune up
COP's(if needed) : 25-30 ea, from Accell
i don't know how much they (ford) would charge in laybor if you brought the parts. but it might be alittle less. check both aspects.......FORD parts & laybor price.........FORD "just" laybor price. or have some fun and dive into it for a weekend project.
I have seen anywhere from $75 to $480 charged for the labor side of V10 spark plug replacement
Good set of plugs can range from $15 to $28 I recommend staying with the MotorCraft parts, the new plugs should be the nickle plated ones....
I recommend replacing every "plug boot" all ten of them can run $40-$90
You can get away with just replacing the "bad" ones they run from $4.50 to $8.99 each
This job should not be preformed by the typical garage or dealer technician / mechanic unless you know they are high quality and smart fellers/gals
This motor accumulates a lot of sand and crap on top of the motor and especially down in the plug recesses... high volume, high speed, high pressure shops will always forget about blowing this crap away from the plug and of course it then falls into the cylinder once the plug is pulled....
They usually skip replacing the plug boots except for the one or two that are obviously bad
They rarely use a torque wrench and this is the biggest sin... no man on this earth has a wrist calibrated to 160~168inch pounds or 12~14 foot pounds...
This job can take from 1.5 hours for an experienced fellow with all the right tools to over 4 hours for a first timer who has to figure out what does not fit and go get different extension, and beer....
If you are going to pay someone to do this job... look up the step by step posting on plug replacement in this forum, print it out and find a mechanic that is not confused by the simple procedure and is willing to do the job correctly....and charge a fair 2 shop hours for the job....

the second one- i learned here that was THE BIGGEST KEY, to these plug jobs. i actualy purchased two, a 3/8 drive in/lbs, AND a 1/4 drive in/lbs (mainly becasue it was alittle smaller and fit into the tight space better)!!
as for the boots, i didn't get a set of those, that is on my next purchase list. i say also it's better to replace all if there is one bad, even if it's only questionable. better safe than sorry
and the LAST one- i'm not a beer drinker.................now whiskey on the other hand.........once i get the "group" together......Mr. Jack or Mr. Jim, or even to put on the Crown........then the job atmosphere is SET!!! ready to work!!
