New Paint job

Hey,
I had my truck painted about a month ago. (Looks like new) Any info on what and when to do it to protect and care for the new Paint? Its MACCO's supream.

Thanks for the help.

The best people to ask are the guys that painted it. They know what they put on and what works best for it.

Did you get a base plus clearcoat? I'll be getting my '83 painted and am wondering if it's worth the extra $$ for the clearcoat system.

We had my wifes car done with the presidential package, they said to wait a year or 2 before waxing, and to use a cream type non abrasive wax. Yours may be different, but like Sport45 said, ask the guys that did it.

Believe it or not the manager told me it's not really worth the extra money for the clear coat. He also said the supreme (DuPont) paint they used on my Truck contains a mixture with Urethane and doesn't require a clear coat.

2 years is a mighty long time to expose paint to the elements....you think?

The main job of wax is to protect the paint. I would think it is too long to wait even a year.

They didn't say I couldn't wax it just that being new and all the paint wasn't going to lose any of it's luster within the first couple years. The paint just turned a year old recently, and I plan on giving it the first wax job this spring. It still looks great though.

That's good. I'm also used to the harsh FL. sun fading paint real easy. I'm sure other locations aren't as bad.

I had some "canser" treated and removed plus several dents fixed (or covered up) for about $1500 here in Maryland.
