I work out of town a lot and don't always have access to the net and I find that it doesn't bother me a whole lot. I try to get some programming time in on the lap top but I work long hours and am usually too beat to do anything but veg watching TV before bed.
Is there anything else that's changed the lives of humans as much and as fast as the internet or that we depend on as much as the net? Internal combustion engines, running water and indoor plumbing, electricity, telephone, radio/TV...
The internet is a relatively new technology with several other new technologies piggy-backing on it. Other than the loss of those new technologies that piggy back on the net as others have said; it would just take more time to find info and probably cost more.
My husband would dance on it's grave. (Abit of a "Luddite", he is.)
Then complain about losing the positive aspects he has come to depend on.
As for myself. Much as Dono said. I would miss it as a rich resource tool But then there are all knowledgeable friends found over the years. Including those over the Pond.
Just have to spend more on books and hope people have not forgotten how to write.

What if you woke up one morning, and there was no internet.
Nothing.
"BAM!''-Just gone.
How would you feel?
What would you do?
id turn on the computer discover the lose, then yell and scream and throw a hissy fit, then probly nock the computer off the desk becouse its useless now.
THEN....
id have to dig around the basement for the old box of playboys
spend countless hours trying to program everyones numbers into my cellphone since i cant email
go buy a new set of encyclopedias
come back later hoping to use the internet, see the computer laying on the floor, and then begin cursing again.
add then when all the tears have dried, ive patched all the new holes in the wall, sweep up all the broken bottle glass, and i begin to remember words that arnt swears...
id get alot of stuff done that ive been putting off forever.

It would truly suck. Not in the normal sucking sense though. I'd have to go back to telephone banking to pay bills. I'd have to spend more time looking up specs in service manuals. I'd have to schedule time to watch hockey highlights on tv, rather than just clicking on a link. No comparative shopping without a newspaper.
I would probably finish all of my projects, including my trucks, and I would probably gain alot of muscle mass from working out alot more, from all the "spare time" I would have!
I don't spend as much time on as i used to so it really wouldn't matter. I would just spend even more time on my Rat Rod project, Hunting, Shooting and of course the family.
"You would re-discover things like catalogs, libraries, dealing with the post office, reading week old news magazines and generally accepting a slower pace of life. Hmmmmm......not such a bad thing"
