Help with a problelm

Hi, spliceman here

I'm experienceing and problem with my 95 F-150. When I start it the idel jumps to 1k and the engine light flicks on 4 times. Idle goes to 15k then slowly returns to 800 then all most quits but ends up at 1k.

The egr valve has been changed, new plugs, new fuel filter and throtle plate cleaned.

A computer check, 5 different times, comes back with no codes to establish the problem.

Any suggestions?

I hope you ment the the rev went to 1.5k and not 15k . Still sounds like a tunning problem. I am not familar with the 95. Did you do the Plug Wires, Cap, Rotor. Does the 95 have points and condensor. If fuel injected then clean the injetors, if carborated then clean the jets and check the accelerator pump. These are all just the basics.

Sorry but this was my first time posting a question and evidently I posted it in the wrong forum. Yes the RPM was 1.5k and not 15k.

It is fuel injected and no points or condencer to replace.

Perhaps it is fuel injectors but wouldn't that be a problem that would continue through all RPM's?

Do you think that the computer might be geting ready to quit?

This does not appear to be a computer problem. The computer responds to the sensors and displays codes when there are errors.
Dirty fuel injectors could very much cause this symptom.
Have you done a pressure test on the fuel rail? I do not believe that the fuel pump can cause this but the pressure regulator might be surging on you.

Just an idea but have you checked that the self test input connector isn't still grounded?

Beside the large EEC test connector is a single wire connector, and the first part of the test for the KOER (Key On Engine Running) test is to ground that connector and start the engine, the engine will then rev up and down by itself and flash the engine light 4 times to indicate it's an eight cylinder engine.

This applies to the EECIV computer which I believe you have.

Wonky idle is often the IAC or idle air control solenoid. The plunger gets gummed up with residue from the egr. Spraying some carb cleaner in can help, but often removing and disecting it for cleaning does a better job.
