i know the vin tags should be on the glove box door or the door jamb.
my truck didnt have a glove box and the door jamb had nothing. the truck has been repainted so maybe they removd it. the only evidence of vin is on the title. where else can i look?
it would be on the passenger side in the wheel well.
i just fount mine the other weekend.
if you got a older truck there should be a plate on the inside of the engine compartment.
above the battery tray.
got a 49 and a 51 cab.
49 frame also that matches cab.
if you got the vin you can buy plates for your glove box and that.
all you would have to do is have them punched.
Rebellforever - I'm missing my glove box tag also, where can I get a blank one? I've found a blank patent data plate, but haven't been able to find the other. Any hekp would be much appreciated.
um.........
ill have t look in my books.
ill try to post it tonight before i go to bed.
im not realy sure.
ill get you the price also.
they are real cheap.
I believe all the 48-52 (maybe latter and earlier too, not sure) trucks had VIN's stamped on the right frame rail adjacent to the engine mount and just in front of the shock.
51dueller - That's weird, both my frames (both 51 f-1"s) are where I mentioned eariler. Is yours by the steering box? I wonder if it's different because yours is a mercury? Or maybe because it's bigger than an f-1? Or because ford felt like making the restorers life confusing? I noticed you have a 51 f-1 parts truck too, where is that one located? Not that I really care, just curious at this point.
