Engine killing? Sensor?

I just want to first say that everyone is always very helpful on this site.

I have a 2001 f-250 7.3l.
When I come to a stop at a light the engine kills. I start it right up and it is fine. This happens about once every 2 weeks. It is not horrible, but I don't want it to get worse and not start sometime.
Could it be a sensor? or the fuel I'm using?

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks, Jeff

Welcome to FTE!
Jeff,
If your oil level is OK it may be the common culprit CPS going bad. How long has it been doing this?

Also does it ONLY do this when you come to a stop or does it have any other symptoms at any time, such as random stumbling while driving.

This only happens when I am stopped at a light. And it fires right up when I start it. IT has happend probably 5 or 6 times. Once in a while I will notice it bog down when I am driving. But it hardly ever happens I just thought it was the the fuel. I think it has happend maybe 3 times.

Any help is appreciated!

Well, if you have also had some intermittent problems while driving (not stopped), then I'll have to go with PSNut and say CPS also.

I'll replace it then. I found some on ebay for around 50 bucks.
Thanks a lot!

I bought my '02 in September, and already have replaced the batteries after diagnosing the problem on these boards and now I believe my CPS is going as well. Again, I know this thanks to these boards.

So, it's crankin' like a beast again and sarting within a second or two, but it died as I pulled out of my parking space and again halfway through the lot. It threw a code, so when I got home, plugged in my Edge Evolution and sure enough, the code for intermittent CPS failure was there. New CPS on it's way!

These boards, the members, and all of the information have been extremely helpful in owning my "new" diesel. Eased alot of fears I had before buying.
Thanks All!
