I can't really pin point it, but it is not coming from any of the moving parts or springs under the dash on the pedal. It only squeeks when releasing the pedal. I can feel it in the pedal and it seems like it is coming from the plunger thing that goes through the firewall. I can't really get any spray in it because its tight in there.

Does anyone else have this? Is there a fix? Its annoying as hell.

 

The master cylinder may have a problem or your pedal swing arm bushings could be going. also does it look like the arm from the swing pedal is aligned properly with the master cylinder?
could be someone had to jump on the binders really hard and bent something .

It looks aligned ok to me. I'm the only driver/owner, and its a relatively new truck. Its something that has sort of developed slowly, like something needs some grease or oil, but its in the part on the firewall, not on the brake springs themselves. Can you squirt some oil in there a little and hope it gets around to lube whatever is squeaking?

Try to get a good look where the rod goes through the firewall. That is what actuates the hydro-booster. If there is any wettness it is leaking and needs to be replaced. Also, check the fluid level in the pwr steering res. as it should supply the hydro-boost also. If it low, add some p/s fluid and actuate the pedeal for a bit to see if the squeak stops. I had this prob on my 01 and had to replace the hydro booster. Same squeak.

ill look again, but there was definately NO wetness or leaking. Hell, there are little rust crystals on the bolt on the firewall.

 

Give it a couple years to see if it goes away and if it doesn't trade it off.
Just kidding!! My wife drives a Ford focus and the break pedal did the same thing
would squeek when letting off of the break pedal, did this for a couple thousand miles and then quit. Don't know what caused it.

 

is there any springs or anything inside the firewall, or are all the return springs and bushings on the pedal itself? Is there really anything INSIDE the piston or where that rod goes that can squeak or creak?

 

Mine does the same thing. I have tried lubing it but that doesn't work. Still have the squeak. To me it sounds like a dry piece of rubber rubbing on metal.

 

Can I lube the inside of the brake booster? Maybe its the spring in there?

 

That booster is hydraulically operated, not vacuum like gassers, unless the newer ones are different. You might try to pinpoint the squeak with a stethoscope or piece of tubing and see if that part can be lubed.

Have you checked the pwr steering res. level? Check the booster from the engine side of the firewall for leakage, also.

Hurry up and find it so we can make a new aggie joke about it! LOL

Are there any return springs for the brake once you get through the firewall?? Is there anything attached to that rod on the other side of that firewall that can squeek or be lubed?? Something in there isnt submerged in fluid, or it would leak into the cab. God its irritating.

 

It might be leaking under the hood and dripping on the exhaust so you don't see it. It might not be leaking at all and just be low.

I should point out that the squeak goes away when the humidity is high or it's raining. That leads me to think it's just dry bushing of some sort.

 

Mine does not. But there is nothing on the other side of the firewall that can squeek since i dont have a master cylinder, right?
