Anyone have a good reason why OEM batteries that come with our pickups that are installed at the factory will last for a long time and then buy an over the parts counter set of batteries at the Ford dealership and they won't last as long? Replaced the batteries in my 02 last November with the newer high amp battery that is the standard equiptment with the current model and here 11 months later, they are failing. Getting things checked out in the morning at the dealership.
As a side note, I find this to be true on most anything I buy new...EX: Farm tractors and Combines...cars..ATV's...etc.
I dunno, the ones I just bought last week were carbon copies of the oldies, except for a 108 month warranty and 36 month no question asked replacement.
fresh too with a mfg date on the side of 4 sept 06
the alt on my 02 excursion went bad at 32000 miles, had it replaced under warranty.while it was being checked out they found that the multi function switch was drawing juice and was replaced also.
try replacing tires with same as orignal and you will never get the same milage, dont know why.
when you are young you can work long hours and take it, but when you get old you cant even work short hours and take it! Its just the nature of the beast I guess! And that the first for everything, its new!
If your alternator is working properly the only reason would be the starter is not as efficient as when new.
Also, even though they are hooked up in parallel, the pass. side battery takes a bigger hit. It is the primary battery and the first hit by the starter drain. I have been swapping their positions every 6 mos. with great results.
I do however have Sears Di-Hard Truck Batteries that I got Ford to pay for after my 3rd alternator.
My neighbor's brother is a mechanic for the Utility Co. here in Denver, and he sent mine out for a rebuild to a 180A. No troubles since!
Got the truck checked out this morning...they put a load on each battery and the right side one failed. They installed a new one...no charge, and man it cranks it like it use to when they were both new!
Now we will see what the future holds with one battery that is one year old and the other brand new. Thanks
All the items on your new vehicle are made to a standard that you can not buy. This goes for brake pads, rotors or just about everything that would require periodic maintenace. Why? The car companies hold a fire to the feet of their suppliers for quality components. The suppliers sell those high quality parts only the the car companies either 1. Because it's part of ther contract or 2. Because if the items last 50% longer then they couldn't sell as many...take your pick. I know this for certain because I work at one of the car companies techical center and have access to those components, some of which find their way onto employee's personal vehicles.
