Question Spitzlift???

Anyone own one or heard about them? They look pretty cool for lifting items into the truck bed. What I most want to know, is can the truck bed mount fit under a hard toneau cover. Also, how well do they work? Thanks,Brian

I saw it on Trucks when Stacy David showed it off. It looked good but I didn't like the hand crank winch idea.. Might take alot of muscle to move the crank under heavy loads. I think a better idea is the rear bumper that has a portable crane stowed inside. It easily converts to a hoist and it looked decent..

Sorry I don't remember the name, but I believe someone on FTE posted it..

I will try and find it, but hopefully someone else has the info.

I found the link I was talking about. Not sure of cost, but I would assume they are pricey

You can check out these.

I bought a spitzlift a few months ago. It works great. I use it to lift my 30 gal compressor into the truck. I've also lifted sheets of sheetrock. I have not lifted more than a few hundred pounds. It works as advertised. I put the universal base in the back corner of the bed. It sits just proud of the bed rail so I do not know if your cover will fit over it. I am sure there is a way to make it work. The winch works with very little effort. I don't know how it will work with a full load since I have yet to put much weight on it. When I load my 400lb brush mower on I will let you know. It is much easier using the lift verses using a ramp. For me it was well worth the cost. Much better than a sore back.

Thanks Buddy, they sound pretty cool. Any chance you could get a pic of the mounting? Would be much appreciated! Thanks

bneafus, There are photos in my galery. The universal base sits about 3/4" above the bed rail. It is adjustable so I think it could work with a cover.

Looks great Buddy! My toneau is actually a hard slider that sits in side the rail. I know the mounting bracket is adjustable, do you think it'd mount under the rail instead of on top?? Thanks again...Brian

I don't see a problem with bolting the bracket to the underside of the bed rail. It just needs to be very strong due to the leverage of the lift. You can also get the bracket that attaches to the receiver hitch a bit pricey though.
