Looking for a little help. I have a 2004 Ford F-350 Super-Duty, 6.0. I was told that there is a set-up that you put on between the torque converter and the drive shaft, that gives an extra gear. From what I have heard, it is electronic, and you can engage the extra over-drive by a push button when you want to. Has anyone heard about this or know anything about it? A name of the product?
Do you know when the double overdrive is engaged, how many RPMs the motor will drop?
Here is my senerio: I pull a 40' enclosed race car trailer. When traveling down interstate at 75 mph, my RPMs are around the 2200 RPM range. However, if I can drop my RPMs to around 1750 RPMs, I can gain 5-6 MPG. The problem with running at 1750 is that it is only about 50 MPH. I am thinking if I could add another overdrive to drop my RPMs 500-600 RPMs, my fuel mileage would increase. I thought about gears, but then I would have to replace both the front and rear gears. Also, a gear change to a higher ratio would make my pick-up more sluggish from a stop. I don't want to give up my take off.
