TIM F-6
got a question about the engine that I want to put in my F-6.
I'm having a hard time trying to pick a engine to put in.She did have a 239 flathead, but it's not their now.I was thinking a 360 but the question I have is what size will fit the best (302 ? ).Don't want to do much cutting. You can tell that I'm real new at this and i am worried about stuff like the alt.& fan, gen.exhaust etc. fitting.I just
want to be able to pull her easy.
I'd say a big truck needs a diesel. Wonder why we have not heard from anyone here who's done that conversion.
If I had access to these nice V8 diesels (not talking about the GM junk that is filling the US Army junk yards even over here in Germany) I would even be thinking about swapping one into my 54 F100.
Anyone's got any thoughts / ideas or even a pic showing such conversion ?
An F-6 would be a good candidate for a diesel if you were truly going to return it to duty as a work truck. Diesel conversions are a pain and probably not a good candidate for a first project. But then again, neither are most of our projects here. 17 years to build a 289, how long would a Cummins Diesel have taken?
A big block Ford would probably suffice.

I am ignoring you. Were are all the 302 guys when I need a hand around here?
'fenders, ... but now I am in high gear with my truck. Just today I took the engine out an put it back in twice. All that in just 4 hours (incl. welding the engine x-member and some other work in between).
Carl, ... but them Europeans don't have V8 diesels. Typically the van or pick up size trucks come with 4 or 6 banger diesels with something in the range of 2.5 to 3.0 liters. Who wants that ? Not me !!!
