the Hub is $300. at Auto Zone. I just ordered one last night off e-bay for $100 from a warehouse outlet. You need to take tire off, take tie rod joint off, take upper ball joint off the steering knuckle, push the axle shaft out of the hub as you pull the hub and knuckel away from the truck. Then you remove the 3 bolts holding the hub to the knuckle from the back side. It takes some big tools, ball joint press or puller, maybe a pickle fork, etc. Takes about 3 hours if you know what your doing. Not difficult, but not for someone who doesnt replace brake shoes, shocks, etc.
the book says all you have to do is remove the 3 knuckle to hub bolts and the axle nut and then remove the hub that what I would if you remove the knuckle you will have to have the front end realined.
the hub is on the back of the knuckle. you remove the three bolts, then have to pull the knuckle outward off the axle. you need to remove the ball joint to pull the knuckle outward. you dont have to realign if you dont change the tie rod length, but i is alwalys a good idea to check alignment every couple years.
sorry mountaineeer, i thought i was on the F150 site. you are right, the hub sets ont he outside of the knuckel and bolts go in from the back.much easier job than the F150. i think you do have to remove the knuckel to get the CV shaft out. not sure there is enough room to push the CV joint thru the hub mounting hole. Hub dont appear to be much problem.
