How the heck do you remove the trim pieces from the front of the rearview mirrors? Mine are chrome and they need to be black. I've stared at them but can't see how to pop them off.
I agree, althought the newer years look fine that way in some of the colors. Mine is black and I don't like the chrome bits much. I'm going to ask a friend in the body business how the door bumper strips are attached, as they are starting to look out of place too now that I have black wheels and dark tint on the glass.
I figured it out today. There are 4 small tabs in behind the mirror glass that you must unhook from posts in the housing itself to release the trim cover. You can see them if you move the glass around and look behind it. A long screwdriver will reach the tabs and a small flashlight is a big help. There was a piece of double sticky faced foam as well on the passenger mirror that pulled off easily enough once I saw what it was. The drivers side had none of this, oddly. Once you unhook the tabs the trim wiggles off easily. Tomorrow I'll paint 'em up. Might try that new Fusion paint for plastics.
