10-4 good buddy. i guess it depend how picky the dealer is. i've put Lucas in the chunks after calling the Ford dealers in NC. they said that it wasn't the brand that mattered, just to make sure it was put in. some dealers may be alittle more picky.
when i had my FX4 Ranger (yea that one was a mistake), i added Royal purple after a rear end fluid change and the dealer still warentied my gears after a mud race incident.
i would say that was an understanding dealer.i'm gonna change the fluid out and hopefully the diff tightens up.only gonna put enuf additive in to make it quit chattering.
read the bottle closely as some of the newer ones don't need any additive and that could??? possibly be why we are seeing problems with diffs from haveing to much additive.
i know when i did mine. and added the rear cover. my parts manager told me don't add any additive to the motor craft brand that it already had it mixed in. i do know i leave two very nice patches of black rubber when i do mash it hard. never added any additive and i have no chatter on turns.
again as i said read the bottle closely. you may not need any
i used royal purple in my car with no additive and it's nice and tight.i'm hoping this will fix the one in the truck.if not ,a truetrack is "only"$511.be nice if they just had a heavier spring for the diff.
a word of personal advise man. stay away from rieder i got screwed by them one time big time. and i will not go futher then saying the cost was huge to me. randys ring and pinion has better prices and better service for the same parts
i've had good luck with them, but before ordering i usually check a few places.i think any big retail business has a transaction go bad from time to time.sorry to hear you had a bad deal with them.
