If my VSS is going bad, (2004 Heritage F-150 4X2) would that cause the truck not to start some times. I have all the VSS symptoms with the ABS light, Spedo not workig, OD light flashing, Tranny not shifting but when it acts up, I get a real high idle, and when I shut it off sometimes the truck wont start unless I crank and crank and crank. (almost to the point of the battery going dead) Any thoughts out there

A bad VSS shouldn't cause a no start.
What happesn if you hold the throttle open a bit when you try to start it?
Try cycling the key from off to run a few times before cranking it too and see if that makes any difference. That will sorta prime the fuel pump.
