Gear ratio 9" Ford
I'm curious what the gearing of choice of everyone in here is?. I have a 9" ford and am running 3.50 gears.

Mine is 3:50 also. I do have a AOD trans but my speedo is off a lot (replacing it this winter with a elect speedo and cruise control).
When I drive on the Eway and keep up with traffic in the right lane it's running at 2000 rpm. I'm guessing thats somewhere near 70+ mph

Ok, I just checked it out on one of these on line calculator programs and the results are, 27.8 tire (P23/70R15), 3:50 final drive ratio and a .67 trans ratio @ 2000 rpm I'm traveling at 70.57 mph.

Ed -
I don't ever travel at 60 mph. But I tach 3200 at 70!
I plan on an AOD someday, to improve mileage. But I sure like the grunt I get off the line from that 3.50 posi!

In 6th @ 2000 RPM I'm doing a even 90 MPH! It's just at a high idle @ 70. Don't even need to put my foot on the pedal @ 55!

I sure will be glad when I get mine out on the highway to find out what my cruzin' RPM will be. I'm running a very tall rear gear (2:26) and 225/75 R15s but no OD transmission. My guess is somewhere around 1800-2000 RPM at 70.
