Lonewolf, you may have set a record for use of animated characters in one post.
In honor of your achievement, this fine thread, and the excellent information and advice contained therein, I shall open and consume an Oil Can of Foster's Lager.
Beers to you my 6.0 brethren (stock or modded) and Technicians!
May the adult beverages flow smoothly and may you enjoy the sight of Dodges and Chebbies getting rapidly smaller in your rear view mirror.
What you said is exactly correct, it is so easy to just plug-in a tuner without any knowledge of basic combustion engine operation. I posted awhile back in another thread basically your same thoughts about it being to easy to increase Hp/Torque with a tuner. It's like giving a 12 year old a new pocket knife and telling him he is now a brain surgeon
I have no problem with those who mod there truck and know what they are doing and getting into. I just get tired of the ones complaining about mechanical problems after instlling a tuner on there truck and don't even now how to check there own oil
I believe the 6.0 can be successfully modded (i have not done one myself) but you have to be willing to spend alot of money and time to get it right.
You weren't using some type of weird telepathy on me to restate your point were you?!! Cause I was assured by the tin hat maker that it would block that! I want a refund!
Getting close to the time to put your feet up, have cold one, and enjoy a cigar while we discuss the 6.0L forum future and the humor we all see in it from time to time.
Oh Yeah, Beech get off your Bum and get with the Ironning . . . (get the irony?)
Got it....
I am also packing to work on my lake home this weekend... so much for working with so many emails and FTE posts this afternoon.... hope my wife isn't mad that the irony... I mean ironing isn't done?
Now thats Irony. I quoted Jim Ferraro(VIC) Superchips man and turned around and they thought I said it. .
If anybody cares my singnature been the same since day one.
Stock No mods Been best truck so far Theres a reason for that.
There is enough warnings in the manual to make a person nervous about moding the 6.0 .
I had a programmer on my 7.3 when I sold it and never had a problem with the engine at all but the 6.0 is a differnt animal . I choose to leave it stock because of the info I read here .
I do think programmers and the people who buy them are not the ones that are going to baby their truck. This one is the best ( I only bought a programmer for mileage)
Thats it I'm going down to the speed shop and buying a Programmer,Intake, NOS ,Liftkit, Tires ,Water injection, Propane injection and anything else I can inject to the engine . When it blows (which it will ) I will take it all off and return my POS to the dealer and have them warranty it.

Nope, ... just weird minds work alike
Now before you get a refund, you may be able to use that hat as a radio or TV antenna
Or just trade it in on a hat with a propeller on top, those tend to stop telepathic communication

and now its really bein hijacked......AND BY AN OUTSIDER (I don't own a diesel and my fords older than me) but i've been following this thread cause its really interesting. I just noticed matts from northern indiana and i was curious to see exactly where. Right now I'm co-oping w/ bosch near columbia city. Grew up (and still call home) in North Judson (near Valpo) and go to school at Purdue (DUH) so I got all the bases covered haha.
Michigan City is where I call home. It's about 1hr from Cloumbia City. I go to Shipshawana to pick up sheds from the Amish to be delivered around here. I spend alot of time on hiway 30. You cant miss the truck pulling a trailer with a garage on the back. (atleast ISP can't) 12' wide is legal right.

OK! Now you're just messing with me!. . .
Everyone knows that propeller hats only stop satellite transmissions and alien broadcasts!
Sheesh, what do you take me for, some kinda crazy!

Thank you Beach. I just don't care for blanket statements too much and I probably read to much into that and was already upset with other things going on at the time. No, my truck still runs. lol BTW- It is because of other prior posts of yours that I went ahead and ordered a coolant filter to add when I do my next set of Major mods in the next couple of weeks.

You couldn't just change some programming. I don't trust tuning companies enough to believe they've made it "safe" and dummy-proof for me and I don't know enough about this engine and it's systems to want play, and until I do, it'll stay stock. You, Matt and several others have taken the time to know your engine, so I don't think Jeff was directing that comment at you. Just the folks who really don't know the engine, put in a tuner, break something, and then lie about not having a tuner and blame Ford for having an inferior engine. I chuckle when I hear someone say they bought a tuner for the "mileage increase" and have never gotten on it to see what the truck can do with a tuner. Right!!
Scary thing is, this is my first ever diesel AND my first ever hot rod of any kind. I've always been a bit mechanical as I run a WaveRunner and Parasail Operation so I've always had to do emergency repairs on marine engines. I've been working on them for 23 years now. This diesel stuff is alot more fun. Maybe it's the challenge in it. I think also that since I've been in the rental business, maybe that has helped with my attitude toward my mods and not blaming Ford themselves. I can't stand the idiot that returns a Waverunner and tells me the hole in the front that I can stick my head into was there before he left the dock. I can't be that kind of person. Those must be the kind of people you are seeing on here mostly. Those are also the kind of idiots that are screwing up this country and the legal system by sueing a company because they were dumb enough to stick a hot cup of coffee in their lap at the drive though and wonder why it scalded them. I could go on with the idiots legal cases since the lawyers in my family constantly nag about them too. It's really sad that people can't or won't take responsibility for their own actions anymore. That's what this is really all about.

AMEN BROTHER. I may be a stupid college kid but I was brought up if ya screw up don't deny it, work with it and make things right. as they say "IF YOUR GONNA BE DUMB YA GOTTA BE TOUGH"
