In monday I found a strange problem.... Low power. Everething is good, till i depress gas pedal more then a half.... after that I can here noise of intake (throutel is ok, cabel is ok....) but engine does not rev with widly open throutle. The first idea was, that air filter is clogged. I tried to deive without it. The same effect...
Yesterday, I disconnected negative wirew tonight, and this morning my old lady runs fuster, but not like before....
May be my cat is clogged? How to check it before replacement....
You don't have to remove it to test, simple cut a hole in front of it, if it runs better, then you are right. If there is no significant difference, look elsewhere.
Simply remove the O2 sensors and see if it performs better iff it does thanyou have a cat clogged, or after you run it use a laser thermometer to check temps if the cat is cloged it will be much hotter than the others.

P/S. Emission test passed!
Hi Pablo:
Thank God, it's not that kind of "Performance Problem." This is the kind of thread title that can give a mod a serious case of heartburn.
Anyway, if it passed emission tests, I doubt it can be a clogged cat?
Did you check the timing lately and forgot to put the SPOUT plug back in?
Did you change spark plug wires lately and crossed a pair or two by mistake?
Don't forget to check your Throttle Position Sensor.

Emission test is passed, but policeman tald me, that it seems to him, it passed emission tes the last time with this cat, becouse, NOx is near the upper limit.

Yes, it is OK

Are you are kidding?
Don't forget to check your Throttle Position Sensor.
I wouldn't go by the voltage of the TPS ,but rather its resistance. Those voltages sound low considering it is a 12 volt system. A plugged cat won't pass emmissions, it doesn't have enough surface area. A bad TPS could cause your symptoms. Here in the US they are fairly cheap.
The EEC works on 5v logic, so the full voltage reading on the TPS should be right around 5v. Your idle/full readings should be 0/5 volts. You can check its operation for smoothness, or jumpy reading with a volt or ohm meter, but I doubt that that's your problem. The TPS helps with acceleration in that it tells the EEC to inject a little more fuel at throttle tip-in. Once your speed has reached steady state, it doesn't do much for acceleration. Your description sounds like it's not even getting up to speed.
A sudden loss of power like you describe doesn't sound like the catalytic converter. If it clogged up, if would do it slowly over time, unless you got a load of really bad gas.
A couple other things you might check:
See if you have enough fuel pressure.
Does your van have EGR? It is designed to deal with NOx. (I don't think early cat cons were designed to process NOx.)
The first idea was to cut a hole in front of cat. I did it....Of course better, but engine did not rev up to 3000 RPM.... So i tried to check ignition timing with stroboscope.... I draw a white point on crankshaft pulley and starthed the engine... Timong on idle is good, but id does not depend on RPM and engine load. I tried to put the SPOUT plug out and back in... No change....
So SPOUT signal does not come to TFI. Tommorow, I'll try to understand why....
