I believe that it is still legal to carry a gun in the car as long as it is unloaded. As far as the ammo being in a different area, most pickups only have one area. A friensd of mine got caught with a loaded rifle in the cab by game wardens a few years back. They took his rifle and gave him a big ticket. Jag
People who carry guns, will continue to do so. I think that "banning" simply outlaws normal (American,) behavior. Ignoring the fact that it would be unenforcable, you simply make outlaws of otherwise law-abiding people.
I like guns, used to hunt a lot, target shoot, etc...that said, I don't see why there would be a need to bring a gun to a chapter meet, or any other type of get together.
That said, if there was an outdoor meet type of thing set with the intention of shooting, no problem.
I, as a red blooded red-neck, have to reserve the right to bear arms.
(This is still America, isn't it??)
However, I won't show it to you unless:
1. We are comparing the virtues of the same model firearm.
2. One, or more of us have something unique that is interesting to touch, look at and envy. ( I have some of those, not necessarilly valuable either )
3. Are hunting something together.
Or,
4. You are screwing with my:
a. mom
b. wife
c. truck
d. children
e. stuff
Not necessarilly in order of priority, which changes with attitude and proximity of mom, wife and / or children.
Most folks I know engage in #1 - #3 and never into #4. SO for the most part, no worries
Lets and have some safe, relatively sane fun without worry that we might shoot eachother.
