I have an Astrostart with the security system. I will talk to the guys who installed it to see if that is possible.
Thanks

I suggest you to buy Code-Alarm 530 with Bypass module (doesnt require to leave key in it!!) its new one.

I just installed it myself (first time) and its very worth it!

Most important is to read the instruction and follow the wires (mark it with tape mask) to make it easy to follow the instruction before process installing.

I ordered it from Travis, KCautosound.com he also offered $25 for PRE WIRES and pictures with inctruction! Again , its worth it!

I ran into little problem and Travis was always ON AOL IM and phone avaible i talked him on Sunday about 5pm. he was there for me until things work out!...awesome customer service!!

COst me approx $200.

Stopped into Best Buy today to look around and checked out the alarms. I've been looking at the latest alrm/remore start from Viper and Best Buy wants $506 +tax. That's for the alarm/remote start installation and lifetime warranttee as long as I own the truck.

I've never bought an alarm for a vehicle before, is this price on the up & up? Seems kind of steep to me.

Murk, it does`nt seem out of hand, especially with a viper system. I had a clifford installed on my 06 F-350, it was a little more than the viper. I love it and comes in pretty handy when it`s cold in the morning and momma has her truck in the garage. I guess it just comes down what you may think its worth to you personally, and you for the most part get what you pay 4 lol....

I've installed hundreds of DEI (Viper/Python) alarms and remote start systems. As long as your installer is competent you'll be very happy with the system.

Ive had the Astrostart in my '03 since new, and transferred it to my '06 last year. No problems whatsoever, unless you call changing one remote battery a big deal.

Looking through my owners manual today I stumbled across this little tidbit:

NOTE: The SecuriLock passive Anti-theft system is not compatible with non-Ford aftermarket remote start systems. Use of these systems may result in vehicle starting problems and a loss of security protection.

Is this an issue or do installers know to disable this? Or is this what the bypass module is for?

I'm an alarm n00b. So shoot me. =)

I am going to guess that it says something like that on EVERY vehicle.
