This thread is great. My pyro should be here in time to install it this weekend. With all the info I have gathered, I do not feel a bit intimidated. I dont tow anything and I am going to get the 80hp econo tune from jody. I figured I should be ok with just the pyro. What do you guys think?

If you don't tow, pyro is all you NEED. A boost would help in heavy foot situations.
empire i would want to keep an eye on the tranny as well since your foot will be in it more while you adjust/enjoy the tune. the PCM will still defuel you in an overboost situation as long as you dont have a "fooler" installed so the boost could wait. but you will want to grow into the "big three" eventually
I am sure later things will be full fledge, but with xmas coming money is the issue. I got a nice pyro for $70 and the PCM flash is gonna cost me $75. I think it is going to be well worth the $145.
3 gauge a-pillar would have been $225 (a good deal imho for autometer) and the 5" exhaust another $400. I need to take baby steps but still want to have some fun.
"Champagne taste with budweiser budget" as someone put it.

All true. I have all that, and I also have a whitetail hunting issue to deal with. Most everything comes to a halt about this time. If I were to recommend anything, I would say wait/save for what you really want because there is nothing worse than thinking about what you should have done. Will you be good with just the Pyro? absolutely, but is that what you want? You can still piece the stuff together if you do it right, but that doesn't always turn out.
With no gauges and no towing, you should be OK. If you can't wait, the Pyro will be the one to watch with a tune/chip.
Honestly, yes. I like the way MrBass installed his original gauges. I dont really want an a-pillar so I am going that route. Muffler delete has to do for now- its nice with the 6637. i hope the op doesnt feel . I really wanted the tune first, but I refuse to get it without having at least the pyro.
Hey Alan, be real careful not to over tighten the tranny sensor, it will break off. Been-there-done-that.
I can testify to this as well. The hole taper's down just a bit after the threads. It's the brass on the tip of the sending unit that will get squeezed into the hole and break off in the trans. I've also been down that road of breaking off a sending unit in the trans...not a fun place to be. I ended up laying on the teflon tape pretty thick on the upper threads, leaving the first few bare for electrical contact, and not tightening down on it super hard, just enough so it will seal.
A side note, I was talking to Brian of BTS, about it, and he said he's seem a whole lot of broken senders in transmissions because of this design. As a result, they actually drill out that hole just a bit when they build a trans, so it wouldn't be a problem anymore.
So, just be careful when screwing it tight...it can get too tight if you go too deep, and you risk breaking it.
