howling on explorer

howling on explorer
i have 1999 explorer. with some minor mechinacal issues but not to bad overall.. but she does howl for no reason . she can go a week with out howling then start up again. it doesnt matter if she just started up or sitting in traffic(florida is notorius for it) it does quiet some when my foot is on the gas though.. any help is greatly appreciated.. ill get to the other issues another time lol

Like marragtop said, sounds like the IAC.
I can always tell when my neighbor is idling is 97 Ranger 4.0 in his driveway by the fog horn sound from his IAC.
Told him it's a simple 5 minute fix, but he sez the noise does'nt bother him.
Use a piece of garden hose like a stethoscope to zero in on the noise.
