In the summer when I got an oil change, the garage told me that I had too much oil in the crankcase and that i should check before adding next time. Problem is, I never added any.
Now, I am 2000 km from my next oil change for my 1994 ford explorer and I just checked the dip stick and I have almost twice the amount of oil that should be. Again, I never added any.
The truck has been running a little rough and I have been noticing white smoke that smells like burnt oil from the exhaust sometimes.
What should I do? Enginer flush? More frequent oil changes?
if it was water or antifreeze you would see it settle to the bottom overnight and will see this in the oil change. it might be gasoline, maybe a leaking injector or something--- tht is diluting the oil. i would go to your mechanic quickly and tell him you did not add oil and let him chekc the level.--------- oil should be changed NOW. i would help to take a sample and have them send it in for analysis to see if it is diluted with fuel, transmission oil, or antifreeze. --- like i said, he will see antifreeze in the drain if it is that. i thin you might need to have a fuel injector rebuild or replacement job.
thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately, the fuel injectors sound about right. I have noticed a deminished power and a bit more fuel usage then usual. I will get that checked out.
we can tell you what is wrong right now if you go out and check your fluids. ie; AT, radiator, & oil. then report back to us. A bad injecter is an eazy fix, just like changing a spark plug however I think you have either a cracked head or leaking head gasket or both which in turn means a new or rebuild top-end at least.
