Hi all, I'm new to the site. I have a 72 F-100 sport custom with a 351 and I would like to check the timing on it. I have a timing light but I dont know where to look on the harmonic balancer to look at the marks. The only place I can see a pinter is near the top of the balancer but you have to look between the alternator and waterpump to see it and cant really get a clear view. Can anybody help me out.
Thats a very good qeustion. One that I dont have an answer to. What are some ways to tell which it is? I know there is an info sticker on the left side valve cover but i never saw anything to say which kind it was. Any help is appreciated.
Sorry for the delayed response guys. I checked it out today and it has 6 valve cover bolts and the thermostat is on the intake so from what I've read it should be a 351W. One other thing I noticed a while ago is that it looks like there shou,d be 2 lines going to the vaccum advance. I have one coming from the carb and that is it. Where should the other one be coming from?
