On another thread I talked about a cold start issue I was having with my truck...basically, now that the temperature has dropped a bit, the truck is cranking close to 10-15 seconds before it will start, but it runs perfect once it's started.
I've been advised to look into the a.c.t. and e.c.t. sensors. I went to the parts house, and figured since it cost so little to replace both ($25), I'd just get it over with.
One is a two wire sensor, the other (and I wonder if this is the right one) has a single wire hook up. I found the location of the 2 wire on the top of the motor, and once I figure out how to get the old one out, I'll replace it, but I'm having issues finding the single wire connector. Other threads on here are saying it's around the area of the thermostat? I can only find 2 wire sensors, and my manuals aren't giving a location. Tips?
Both of those sensors should be two-wire. The single wire sensor that you have is likely the temperature sender for the gauge in the dash and will not affect the signal sent to the computer at all.
Does the ECT sensor have another name then? I asked the clerk for both the act and ect, and he had a blank look on his face. Figured out act by looking at the different sensors and figuring out the acronym, but ect wasn't a slam dunk.
