In my 2005 F350, the speedometer stopped working. I am now going 110 miles per hour most of the time. If I back up far enough & fast enough, it sometimes starts working again, but then quits again. The mechanics at my Ford Dealer say that they can't tell which speedometer to order to replace it with, unless they tear my dash apart first to see which number speedometer is in it. I don't like the sound of that. They also say it is not just the sender. Any one else have an idea about this?
have you tried the cluster diagnostic? Incase you don't know how; hold down the trip button and turn the key on, continue holding the button until the odo reads test. It will give you alot of information, but eventually it will read DTC and give codes. You will most likely have to call ford for the meanings of the codes, but it is a place to start.
I realy want to know if that works. Here's another one for you guys, my tach is doing about the same thing but I'm not backing up to cure it. It's intermitant usually in the mornings. Its mostly annoying at most occasionally it startles me thinking the truck is pegged. All other guages are performing well
i have the same problem and have not gotten it fixed yet...i changed the speed sensor with no change...however, if u disconnect the battery it will re-zero and work for a little bit...its most likely the cluster and in order to get a new one they have to get the part# off the old one...someone told me it could be done in a day or two if they overnight the new cluster with the current mileage
Our Ford Service garage took apart our dash and said we need a new cluster for our F350 (2005) pickup. It has been on backorder for one month and they say it will be on backorder for another month.!!!
