These plates aren't plastic and are made out of the same materials as the real plates. These are "reproduction collector" plates, but the cops and the DMV around here don't have a clue.
I can also get '56 CA plates. Dealer, county/city and state government plates are also available. I'm still waiting for '48 and '51 CA plates to be reproduced. Other state plates of the same, and even earlier, vintage are available. They can be stamped to say anything.
Ilya,
Do you know if they'll do Canadian Provincial Plates as well?
I have examples of 1953 Ontario Plates and up here now, they have a YOM [year of Manufacture] law. If a vehicle is over 30 years old, the plate is in decent readable condition and the numbers are not in current use on any vehicle, you can license your vehicle in original year of manufacture plates!

Ilya, I swear I will come and torch your panel if you don't link that website RIGHT NOW!!! Well, not that extreme, I might just throw a lit match on your hood, but it will probably just go out befre anything happens. But you get the point.
Evidently Panelman does not want to share. Why brag about what you got if you're not willing to share with fellow FTE folk?? I was hoping to use his source because he said the quality is good. However, I have found another provider on the web that says they will do the same thing. I have no way of knowing how good they are so it will be a gamble. Check out licenseplates.tv They sell similar plates for 70-80 bucks. Jag
Sorry guys for not responding earlier, but I've been laid up for a few days. On Sunday afternoon, I strained my back really bad and ended up pinching a nerve. I've been on bedrest for the last few days because I couldn't move. I ended up going to a chiropractor yesterday evening, which helped a lot. I can at least move around a bit now.
Yes, licenseplates.tv is the place where I got these plates. The quality is exceptional. It's definitely cheaper than getting plates restored.
One thing, though, to all Californians, if you order a plate, it can't be shipped to an address in CA. You'll need to have it shipped to an address outside of CA. I had my plates shipped to my wife's grandmother in WA.
Again, sorry for the late response. I'm always glad to share my findings. I just couldn't do it due to my injury and the wife told me not to do anything. I didn't know that there were so many court and talk shows on TV during the day.
Wish me luck. I have to go to work today while still injured.
Thanks Ilya, Sorry to hear about your back. Been there done that. You have restored my faith in the FTE world. Sorry to be crabby, it's the cold medicine talking. Thanks for confirming the site. I feel much better about ordering from them now. And you are right about CA orders. I have to have them shipped to a friend out of state first, then he will send them to me. It's funny, there are not similar restrictions on the state he lives in. There must be a special law in CA.
