Is it possible your temp sensor is still working and turning them on, does your wait light on the dash work?

Well, I can't see how. I basically cut the wire from the controller to the relay and spliced a switch into the line. The controller is what reads the temp sensor, but the signal from the controller can't get TO the relay unless my finger is on the push button I installed.

Yes, my WTS light works, plus I've added another LED (wired in parallel to the WTS light) mounted up high on the dash so it would be easy to see if it were coming on when it shouldn't. Both lights come on when the button is held down and the controller is turning the on the GP relay.

So, basically, if you're asking if the GPs are being turned on when they shouldn't be, or if they are being left on, the answer is no. Like I said these plugs have never been directly controlled by the controller - only by the pushbutton I've installed.

The plugs that failed that quick were Motorcraft/Beru plugs?

I have never had a bad set of Beru plugs, but with modern quality control that is not completely out of the question I guess.

All eight at once, what are the odds on that? Does that mean you should or shouldn't buy a lottery ticket?

I dunno' but I'm hoping someone can suggest some reason or explanation why they'd all burn out so quick. I read on Ziggster's page that he applied 12V directly from a battery to one for 40 seconds without burning out.

Well I spent all day cleaning up my 86...gotta sell it, my 84 on the other hand [didn't start again, air in the system], I finally cut & capped off [plugged] fuel return from the fuel filter head to the # 1 injector, looks pretty mickey mouse, I'll see if it solves the starting problems tomorrow morning.

I am having my fair share of starting problems also. If I park on a steep incline it starts right up. Yesterday noticed a small leak from the bottom of the fuel filter assy. I am guessing it is the water drain? I did change the lines and the o-rings but still if it sits for more than 1 day it takes a while to fire back up.. Did capping the return line from the filter help?

I noticed in your fiirst post that you had been using starting fluid to start your engine. That is something you should never do! It will cause damage to your engine and glow plugs if am wrong about this I'm sure someone will correct me

I believe that comment was addressed at biglex, and I agree completely. As I understand it, IF the you use starting fluid (ether) AND the glow plugs happen to work, the explosion can be violent enough to stretch head bolts and cause a blown head gasket.

When I have to use something I use carb & choke cleaner on mine. The kind that is safe to spray down the carb of a running gasoline engine. MUCH less explosive than ether but just flammable enough to do the trick

COOL! I never even saw that picture. I learned something from it though. I was adjusting my idle the correct way. Just from looking at how it worked I figured that was the idle adjustment screw, and darned if this picture doesn't prove me right!

I am taking more pictures when I have time, it is much easier to show a picture and then post about the picture.

Plus it gives me more chances to show off my motor.

Yeah, that was me that used the starting fluid. However, I dont use but the slightest bit of it, never directly into the air intake, and I always wait for the WTS light to go off and the relay to stop clicking. I know its not good for it, and I try to be as safe as possible, but until my problem is fixed, i gotta do what I gotta do to get it started.
