4.5 T-409 Magna Flow exhaust is installed along with a 5" SST tip. It looks and sounds great. Took it for a quick ride on the freeway and it looks like we have an improvement on the EGTs and everything seems to be working perfectly.
Next up, intake. Can't decide between an AIS or an AFE Stage 2.
Still need to find that fog light relay too but that's another story. Hope everyone's weekend is going well.
wow, thats different. a 4" downpipe, with 4.5" piping the rest of the way back? Magnaflow had to be different!
its good that you like it, it's shiny too, isnt it? is it muffled or not?
if you want a quiet intake, then get the AIS. it claims the best filtration out there, but it is really expensive, over $200. then the open element intake which lets the sound out (which i think is really cool, especially with an ATS and WW.) the AFE is overpriced, you can get the same effect and more filter media for $20 from fleetfilter.com, part 46637. i'm sure you have heard of the "kwik filter" or "6637" filter mod, that's it. but, if you are set on an AFE instead of a 6637, then i would choose the AFE.
Sounds good Tex as far as the Intake both will flow more air than most people will ever need and both provide excellent filtration so it will really come down to which one looks better to you. I liked the clean look of the AIS some will probably like the look of the AFE. One of the problems with PMS....TO MANY DARN CHOICES
Took 30 min tops to install...Clean looking design and it seems to suck alot more air that stock..Before I changed it, I stuck my had in front of the stock intake then after...Sounds like a primative test, but the AIS sucked way more air than stock
are there any draw backs that might affect the motor. I know they all say let them breath and let it exit better, but are there any affect that might hurt the motor cause you are breathing more air?????
some guys just leave stuff alone and some let loose on mods. Just curious really.
Kris, yes, it's muffled. I was going to go with the straight pipe but then I decided that I want it quieter than that. The sound I have now is perfect. Nice and throaty. An hell yes, it's is really nice and shiny. Looks so much better than the stock system. Even Mama commented on how good it looks. I have taken just one pic of it so far and it was with a camera phone so bear with me. This is the tip:
I am really kind of leaning towards that AIS intake. It's on my Christmas list so maybe Santa (Mama) will be good to me. One question, with the AIS is the CCV hookup still there? I am planning on doing a CCV mod but I want to be able to run the factory configuration until I have had time to figure out how I will do the mod.
I might give it a try. I am liking the sound right now and I have definitely noticed a decrease in the EGTs so I am happy.....for now anyway.
Like I said, I want to do the intake next and then after the first of the year (income tax time) I want to do some sort of chip upgrade. Not sure what I need there though. All I want is a little better performance (acceleration and mileage). The truck most likely will never do any super heavy towing (we have a jet ski, 1000#s) and is a daily driver to work and back. I was thinking about either going with a Superchips Microtuner or maybe a three position chip with a **** in the dash. Any thoughts?
